If you were asked what makes your city unique, what would you say?
You likely wouldn’t attribute uniqueness to the fact that there’s a big box pharmacy on every corner or multiple supercenters.
But maybe you’d mention that people used to rent a local burger joint’s chicken cars for weddings and proms. Or that we have an awesome zoo with a train that has an amazing view across the lake. Maybe you’d mention that we have a tiny little beach with a restaurant and paddleboarding in the summer. Maybe its our Lake Festival with boat races and amazing small businesses popping up their tents to celebrate and feed everyone. Maybe its our beautiful downtown lined with boutiques and restaurants and a fantastic park.

Do you see where I’m going? What makes a community unique is the experiences that it offers. And our local small businesses offer some truly fantastic experiences. From a husband and wife team offering homegrown artisan mushroom delivery and teaming up with a Mexican restaurant to add vegan options to the menu, to a fully staffed woman owned marketing company working hard to promote local events and mentor small businesses, to beautifully curated brick & mortars that have stood the test of time…. Macon County has a lot to offer.
